NIGHTWATCH

Protequus

How do you help prevent colic, one of the most common equine afflictions in the world? With a biometric and behavior tracking smart halter, that’s how. NIGHTWATCH provides real-time monitoring, automated alerts and objective insight into the well-being of your horse.

    Electrical Engineering
    Industrial Design
    Mechanical Engineering
    Algorithm Development

  • Protequus required a complete end-to-end solution for the protection of much-loved and valuable horses. NRGXP developed a revolutionary smart crown integrated with a traditional equine halter. We pioneered utilizing ultra wide band radar to capture biometric data from the horse, in conjunction with behavioral data from conventional motion sensors, to be analyzed it in real time. NIGHTWATCH is capable of learning a horse’s unique biometric and behavioral signature to alert caretakers to potential problems.

Turtle Nest Monitor

Element Hope

Element Hope Turtle Tower Nest Monitor

Sea turtles are among the world’s most endangered species. Element Hope is striving to help scientists protect at-risk sea turtle egg nests by non-invasively monitoring incubation, right in their natural habitats. In the event predation, hatching, and/or the hatchlings exiting the nest, caretakers are automatically alerted so that they may take steps to ensure their safety.

  • Software Engineering
    Electrical Engineering
    Algorithm Development
    Industrial Design
    Mechanical Engineering

  • Element Hope required a monitoring solution that was could function off the grid, was portable, and most importantly, had minimal impact on a turtle nest. NRGXP developed a solution consisting of an electronics sensor assembly and space frame, installed above an identified sea turtle nest. Powered by a battery source and solar charger, the Nest Monitor uses ultra-wide band radar, infrared video and thermal sensors, and GPS to automatically gather and store sensory data without direct contact. Specialized algorithms detect the signs and signaling of nest predation, egg hatching and next evacuation.

Everest Mentor Flex

Baker Hughes / Waygate Technologies

Waygate Technologies Baker Hughes Everest Mentor Flex

Waygate Technologies is world-renowned for their superior video borescope offerings. Used for remote visual inspection in industries such as aerospace maintenance, power generation, automotive, and many others; these instruments are highly sophisticated while being extremely rugged and reliable. Everest Mentor Flex is a mid-range unit that builds upon the success of Waygate’s flagship Mentor Visual iQ borescope.

  • Industrial Design
    Mechanical Engineering

  • Waygate sought a fresh design for a mid-range video borescope that could slot beneath their flagship offering. NRGXP helped to develop a new form factor that capitalized on proven ergonomics while enabling the use of key existing certified components. The overall aesthetic of the design also represents a complex melding of the product line’s iconic design language with the company’s evolving branding.

406 Drain Pump

Liberty Pumps

Liberty Pumps 406 Series Drain Pump

Liberty Pumps is a leader in manufacturing pumping products for ground water and wastewater removal in residential and commercial applications. Recognized by the plumbing industry as the go-to source for sump pumps to effluent pumps and everything in between, Liberty identified a need for a new drain pump product that was suitable for installation in visible environments such as a bathrooms and laundry rooms.

  • Industrial Design
    Mechanical Engineering

  • Liberty’s need for a more appliance-like product dictated a clean sheet approach to laying out the 406’s design. NRGXP helped to identify the key requirements that best satisfied the needs for both the installers and end consumers. The design language features form elements common to many of Liberty’s products, while incorporating revolutionary features such as an easily serviced cartridge mounted motor and impeller, and fully concealed connections.

XL Detect+ & Flex+

General Electric / Baker Hughes

General Electric Baker Huges XL Detect+ Flex+

General Electric’s (now Waygate Technologies) XL Go video borescope was a mainstay of there product line for years. Compact and capable, the form factor was popular with inspection crews around the world. Sensitive to customer feedback, GE sought to update and improve the instrument and bring it in-line with their current catalog.

  • Industrial Design
    Mechanical Engineering

  • Given the popularity of the XL Go, GE wanted to preserve the essence of the unit while adding the features that customers were looking for. NRGXP helped to engineer a solution wherein GE could continue use of significant portions of the existing injection mold tooling, enabling substantial cost savings. The final design included updating and evolving the face and touch points of the instrument, while maintaining existing critical features such as mounting and fixturing points. This enabled further savings in the assembly process while satisfying customer demand and giving the product a new lease on life.

Overcomer

Inclusivity

Inclusivity Overcomer Fitness Device

Inclusivity strives to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs, through the development of adaptive sport, fitness and recreational equipment. By developing and creating inclusive equipment, users are empowered with a sense of independence, fitness, engagement and overall well-being. With the idea for a unique striking device in hand, Inclusivity approached NRGXP for assistance in making the Overcomer a reality.

  • Industrial Design
    Mechanical Engineering

  • After working independently and with other groups for a number of years, Inclusivity had the core of a very promising product. However, further assistance was required to solidify the engineering and design on the path to production. NRGXP engineered a bespoke planetary gear and enclosure system that both enhanced function and reliability and simplified setup and use. Inclusivity was able to take the refined design and approach manufacturing partners to ultimately bring the Overcomer successfully to market.

cuvSpec

ExPrimary

ExPrimary cuvSpec Spectrophotometer

ExPrimary is leading the way in the development of advanced technologies to improve the performance of bioanalysis. By developing high-performance instrumentation at a fraction of the cost of existing products, their mission is to dramatically increase access to bioanalytical tools across research and diagnostic markets. ExPrimary came to NRGXP for assistance in designing a revolutionary pocket-sized cuvette-based visible or near-infrared spectrophotometer.

  • Industrial Design
    Electrical Engineering
    Mechanical Engineering

  • After an initial internal design effort, ExPrimary identified a need for additional expertise with both electrical and mechanical engineering. NRGXP designed a new, symmetrical sensing PCB, along with engineering a novel, self aligning cuvette holder and an improved enclosure. With polished and functional demonstration units in hand, ExPrimary was able to pursue the next steps in bringing cuvSpec to market.
